eLearning coordinator Alex Semmens and the IT Services team set to work redefining and resourcing each individual space of the Hub, which includes:
- iMac Research & Publishing Lab
- Inquiry Based Learning Room
- Fiction Reading Room
- Green Screen Media Room
- BYOD Class Space
- Learning Collaboration
Further changes are being made to the staff area to support 1:1 device borrowing and ICT diagnostic support.
Using lots of colour and an open plan design, the Hub quickly took shape as an inviting and innovative space, that reflected the input of staff and students to help support learning.
A key element of the Hub's design is the addition of a central support desk. In response to data collected during our student survey and discussion with Student Voice Representatives, we have set up a centralised staff desk located in the middle Hub allowing students to confidently access a variety of support for their learning.
Over the summer break IT Services will continue to install ICT infrastructure and transition our IT device borrowing from its location upstairs in the Jubilee Building to its new, central location. We thank Simon, John, Geof, Mathew and Grant for their hard work and positive attitude during the upgrade.
Finally we would like to send a big thank you to our friends at Wirrenda High School and their Learning Hub team whom have been a fantastic support during the planning and implementation of our space. To Principal Tony Lunniss, Rhoni McFarlane, Gabi Rinaldi, Caroline Fishpool, Sally Nadebaum and all the amazing staff who have shared their passion and experience; thank you so much for your help and we can't wait to collaborate and share next year!
